Updates in red below.
Well, now that it's July, we can say, "The family reunion is next month!" I think everything is coming together well.
Thanks to everyone for their thoughts about T-shirts. Emily Bylund has come up with a great idea. Every family can bring their own T-shirts (and choose their own colors) and then as part of the reunion she will organize "freezer stenciling" for a logo for the shirts. This will allow us to have different colors per family and also to be able to have the right size shirts for younger kids. Thanks Emily for being willing to do this!
I have a couple assignments that I still need people to take on:
1. Contact the property owner with the questions listed in the previous blog and the comment. (I have sent these to dad).
2. Still need a volunteer/volunteers to be in charge of the "Men and Boys activity" during the Emily-squared baby shower Saturday afternoon.
3. Be in charge of the morning walks on Friday and Monday.
Regarding meals, sometime in the next few weeks, talk to whoever you are paired with and figure out what you would like to make. We will need to give ingredients to be purchased to Mom and Dad who are planning to do a big Costco trip (unless it's too much to do all of that at once). Let me know also and I will post it to the blog so we don't have people making the same thing multiple times (ok, I know that is not likely, but still). We will also need to give requests for breakfast and lunch food to Mom and Dad (types of cereal, etc.) We have decided to keep the breakfast/lunch food bill separate from the dinner bill for people who want to buy their own breakfast/lunch food.
Here's the latest, revised schedule/assignments per everyone's earlier input.

Dave and I can be in charge of the morning walks. You better start training! :)
ReplyDeleteKristen and Kevin were planning to do homemade pizza for their dinner.
ReplyDeleteAlso the "freezer paper stencil" shirts take some time to dry. I would suggest starting that activity on Thursday evening and finishing them on Friday to make sure they're ready for Saturday pictures. This is also an activity that would not be suitable for children to do alone (or for 1-2 adults to even supervise children doing)--we'll need everyone's help. :o)
One other fun evening activity Kevin mentioned was watching the stars come out with some popcorn. He's still thinking about the Amazing Race details and/or if we'll do that.
More on the shirts.
ReplyDeleteHere's a link so you can get a better idea of what a freezer paper stencil would look like: http://www.iammommahearmeroar.net/2012/05/freezer-paper-stencil-party.html
Do people want a few words (aka Bylund Bash) or a logo? Does anyone want to design one? I could also just print out some easy to trace fonts with the words Bylund Bash and/or some logos and we can choose once there. Once we have the design we can just trace it onto the freezer paper (I believe you will have to do this over and over for each t-shirt) and cut it out with a craft knife (this is where the grown-ups are essential). Then you iron it on the shirt, paint it (fun part kids can help with), let it dry, and heat set it. Voila!
Note: I've actually never done this, but have had several friends make cute star wars and transformers shirt for their boys. But now that we're in charge the girls and I will be practicing on our "Make-it Monday" craft days this summer...so Grace and Anne may get a few new t-shirts! :o)
We inherited the water balloon slingshot from Mom & Dad and could bring that. Let me talk to Aaron about being in charge of some water activities during the baby shower.
